Isola Brembana or Isola Bergamasca is an area located in the province of Bergamo, on the boundary between those of Milan and Lecco, delimited by the Adda river in the West, by the Brembo in the East (these two streams meet in the Southern part of the area drawing an upside-down triangle) and bounded by the slopes of the Mount Canto Basso in the North.
The area is subdivided into 21 comunes (Ambivere, Bonate Sopra, Bonate Sotto, Bottanuco, Brembate, Brembate di Sopra, Calusco d’Adda, Capriate San Gervasio, Carvico, Chignolo d’Isola, Filago, Madone, Mapello, Medolago, Ponte San Pietro, Presezzo, Sotto il Monte Giovanni XXIII, Solza, Suisio, Terno d’Isola, Villa d’Adda) and it is characterised on the one hand by a remarkable natural and cultural heritage, and on the other hand by a significant presence of productive activities.
