The parish of Ghiaie di Bonate is located in the diocese of Bergamo, 10 km far from the county seat. Its name’s origin derives from the Brembo’s gravelly riverbed.
In this village, on 13th May, 1944, the 7-years-old Adelaide Roncalli, claimed she had seen the Virgin Mary. In 1944, a chapel was built in this place. The following year the curia commissioned a small shrine, that still remains unbuilt.
The chapel is decorated by sacred relics and it is a destination of incessant pilgrimage.
