The church of San Giovanni Battista is tied with the future of the Good Pope. In 1902, when the first foundation stone was blessed, he was there in the crowd, back when he was a simple seminarian. Following some infiltrations, however, it was soon closed and restored. At the reopening of 1929, Angelo Roncalli, who had become bishop, blessed it again. In the nearby area, you can visit the Chapel of Peace, which contains an inlay of Pope John composed of 70,000 pieces of wood.
