A devotion place dear to Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, then Pope John XXIII, is located in the Baccanello district of Calusco d’Adda: it is the Santa Maria Assunta church, known since the 16th century, but which origins probably dates back even earlier. Here is where the Colleoni Counts established a monastery of monks. In 1618 the expansion of the church started, and then decoration and frescos portraying Mary and the Saints were added by Francesco Zucchi. The church was sanctified by bishop Federico Cornaro on April 22nd, 1625.
The ancient basilica di St. Julia of Bonate Sotto, now the cemetery chapel, stands majestically in Lesina, where excavations of Neolithic and Roman remains testify to settlements dating back to prehistoric times.
According to the testimony of some documents, the building itself dates back to the first half of the twelfth century. The building is in the classic Romanesque style with the basilica originally consisting of three naves with their apses and five bays.
Today only three apses and the first bay with the perimeter wall remain intact.
The pillars bear stylized floral tops, with scenes of hunting and war. In the central apse you can see frescoes painted in 1795 by the Orelli brothers, painters from Ticino.
At the center the patron saints of Bonate Sotto are depicted: St. George and Santa Giulia, and to the sides St. Sebastian and St. Roch, who were invoked against disease and plague.

The Good Pope’s summer residence is now available as a place of calm and spirituality for all.
Entrusted to the Poverelle sisters, today the farm invites not only to spiritual meditation, but also to the cultural one. The personal secretary of John XXIII, Monseigneur Loris Capovilla, has in fact created a small museum, with many reminders of its most famous tenant. Among these, there are the altar where he celebrated Mass in the Vatican and the bed where he died.
Peace is in the woods, and the shrine of the Mother of Caneve seems to confirm this. The religious building dates back to the fourteenth century, although it was later modified in the eighteenth century. Its fame is due to the most famous of its pilgrims. The future Pope John XXIII in fact began to go to this place as a child, and kept the habit of celebrating Mass here once a year, also when he became the Patriarch of Venice.
Nestled in the woods at the foot of Mount Canto in the picturesque hills of Mapello. Casa Amici del Bosco is located in the vicinity of Bergamo and is the ideal place for a relaxing stay in complete harmony with the surrounding nature.
Every detail of the house has been designed to respect nature so that guests can have an unforgettable experience in the quiet and peaceful environment without compromising comfort: from SofTub hot tub with heated water to Satellite TV in every room, or the pellet stove fireplace, and last but not least the free wireless Internet access.

The farm ‘Cascina Rigurida’ was born only in 2014, but the story begins long before thanks to two generations of small farmers. It has recently opened a welcoming and family friendly small farm, as an outdoor space and giving an opportunity to see animals: donkeys, pigs, calves, chickens, ducks and geese or even take a ride through the vineyard.
It produces and sells, directly in bulk, red and white wine; It breeds poultry, rabbits, pigs and donkeys from which they get all of the products that are offered on the farm. The animals are fed naturally without the use of any feed.
